INSTITUTIONAL DESIGN

Fitzgerald Architects strives to design facilities that balance the art and science of building with respect to form and function. This means that the elements of image, aesthetic goals, function and economy, if done well, are attuned to create a successful building. The result is a building that evokes not only a strong image and identity, but also one that represents the pride of the organization and their focus on excellence. By encouraging client participation and constant communication within the team, a quality project is produced.

CALVARY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

Stuarts Draft, Virginia

A classic Folk Victorian style church, built in 1889, receives a new 300-seat sanctuary one-hundred years later. The large structure is carefully designed to complement the scale and style of the existing building. The gabled end walls, windows and doors match the existing architecture and blend to integrate the 12,000 sq. ft. addition seamlessly to the older building. The original chapel is preserved for smaller functions.
